Egypt is celebrating the completion of an $8 billion Suez Canal expansion

August 6, 2015

6th of August, 2015 – This is the day, Egyptians waited to celebrate the completion of the suez canal expansion.

This is one of the most important expansion that happened in the canal history since its opening in 1869. It took only 1 year and costed the Egyptians around $8 billion from egyptians local savings. In addition to the direct efforts from 50,000 egyptians who worked hard on this project. The egyptians are giving this expansion as a gift to the world to enhance the sea transportation worldwide in terms of quality and speed.

The new extension is claimed to reduce the waiting time during passing through the canal from 19 hours to 11 hours only. This will boost the number of the ships that can pass through the canal and have a direct effect on the egyptian GDP

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi held a party celebrating the canal completion, attended by world leaders and delegations from more than 65 countries.
